Celebrating 2012 NYE

“What a cute couple you two would make!”

It all began 13 years ago on an afternoon full of excitement in St. Louis. The Cardinals had just won the World Series, and the city was buzzing with joy as they celebrated with their 2011 World Series Championship parade. Our couple, separately enjoying the afternoon at the completely empty Amigo’s Mexican restaurant, but for the two of them and her friend, were destined to meet—though neither of them knew it yet.

The bride and groom casually struck up a conversation at the bar, chatting away over chips and margaritas. It was nothing more than a friendly exchange between strangers, but when the groom excused himself to head to the bathroom, something unexpected happened. The bartender, a friend, seeing the potential spark between them, took it upon himself to snap a picture of the bride on the groom’s phone, joking, “What a cute couple you two would make!”

When the groom returned, he had no idea that the bartender had played cupid in the most unexpected way. But the groom, feeling a little inspired by the bartender’s cheeky prediction, didn’t let the moment slip away. He found the bride on social media and reached out. And just like that, what began as a simple conversation turned into something much more meaningful.

13 years later, they’re about to walk down the aisle, proving that sometimes all it takes is a bartender, a picture, and a little social media magic to turn a chance encounter into forever.
